Alla Prima

For this series, oil paint and linseed oil is layered on canvas thickly to create a fluffy physically dimensional texture. These self-portraits fall away from reality with contrasting color palettes and are composed of the face and its relationship with hands. This is created through putting hands in the foreground of the paintings or having the hands touching or pulling at the face, a common theme throughout most of my figure-focused works.
